BUMBI Exciting Indie Game Update!

I’ve been hard at work on my first commercial indie game, BUMBI.
If you’re not familiar, the game is a hand-crafted precision platformer that takes inspiration from Super Meat Boy and Fancy Pants adventure. classics
It first started as a 30 day challenge to make a game in GameMaker…
But I quickly realized that it could be something much more. So I went back to the drawing board (figuratively) and hired an artist to help me come up with concepts and animations for my main character.
That’s when this cute little guy come up.

When I saw it, I knew it was the perfect main character for my game.
From there I worked with the artist to come up with animations, and decided to upgrade all of the art in the game.
It’s been a time consuming process to say the least, but I’m really happy with how it’s turning out.
However changing all of the art ended up breaking almost all of my code, so it’s been taking a long while to get back to speed.
It’s hard to stay motivated when dealing with larger projects like these, but it’s important to take a step back and realize all of the progress I’ve made and how dedicating a bit of time each day can go a long day.
I’ve also learned it’s impossible to please everyone. Some people hated the art before. I changed it. Now people want me to change it back.
There will always be a group of people that do not like your game or your project. And that’s ok. I’ve gotten a tremendous outpour of support over the changes, and as long as I am happy with my progress, that’s all that matters 💗
I’ll be continuing working on that game while trying to market it through social media. I just reached 1,000 wishlists on Steam, a big milestone! Only a few thousand more to go 😵
I even updated the steam page and made a small trailer to show off my progress.
